چکیده

Abstract Sterile and fresh tissues of three marine macroalgae red, green brown ( Kappaphycus alvarezii, striatus Padina gymnospora ) collected from Malaysia east costal seas were compared for the antioxidants polysaccharide composition sugars as well active components. Results obtained showed that polysaccharides isolated can be used a source natural antioxidant compounds they possess potential in which 15.56 ± 0.12 mg/mL to best among all studied. The hot water extraction method is effective isolating studied seaweeds. GC–MS analysis revealed there presence chemical such furfural was 25.53% alvarezii 21.04% also incorporates n- Hexadecanoic acid about 26.31% seaweed contribute their activities. Further studies done on determining species are available abundantly with compounds.

Changes of Photosynthetic Behaviors in Kappaphycus alvarezii Infected by Epiphyte

Epiphytic filamentous algae (EFA) were noted as a serious problem to reduce the production and quality of K. alvarezii. The morphological studies revealed that the main epiphyte on K. alvarezii was Neosiphonia savatieri in China. Though the harmful effects of EFA on the production of K. alvarezii have been reported, the detailed mechanism of the N. savatieri in limiting the production of K. alv...

Green Synthesis of Magnetite (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles Using Seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) Extract

In this study, a simple, rapid, and eco-friendly green method was introduced to synthesize magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4-NPs) successfully. Seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii (K. alvarezii) was employed as a green reducing and stabilizing agents. The synthesized Fe3O4-NPs were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), ...

Bioethanol a by-product of agar and carrageenan production industry from the tropical red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii

The two red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii are cultivated in Malaysia for producing agar and carrageenan, respectively. The residues of these seaweeds after removing agar and carrageenan by dilute acid treatment were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using cellulase (Cellic CTec 2). In the optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis, highest glucose concentration was achiev...
